- Radial grooves draw air under the pads thus promoting cooler running brakes
- Grooves enable degassing of the pads during braking
- Dust, debris and water are expelled by the grooves
- Grooves promote flat and even wear of the brake pads
- Dimples - unlike through-holes that tend to promote cracks – prevent uneven wear and scoring of the discs as well as the brake pads
